On 26 November, 2025, the five-alarm fire broke out at Tai Po Wang Fuk Court, resulted in 151 deaths, with 1,900 households losing their homes (as of 1 December 2025, 6:00pm). The Hong Kong Red Cross (HKRC) promptly activated its emergency response mechanism and worked closely with government departments. Immediate emergency assistance was provided to affected residents through the deployment of local disaster relief, first aid, and mental health and psychosocial support teams in 2 hours after the fire broke out, along with volunteers, to the temporary shelters and relief stations set up by the Tai Po Civil Affairs Office. Distributing essential supplies, including pillows, quilts, mattresses, chargers, and personal hygiene items.
The HKRC has launched a “Tai Po Fire Emergency Appeal”, accepting designated donations from the public. The donations will be used to support the vulnerable of the Tai Po fire by providing them with emergency supplies, cash assistance, psychological support, and other services to help them through this difficult time.

An emergency operation center has been established, with providing first aid, emergency medical, and psychological support services for six temporary shelters overnight.

The HKRC will continue to provide Mental Health and Psychological support and first aid services at the temporary shelters. Depending on the situation and needs, we will expand the range of services and extend service hours. Also preparing to assist affected residents with their medium- to long-term needs for transitional housing, offering supplies, psychological support, and Rapid Emergency and Disaster Cash Assistance.
