Restore Counselling, Training and Related Services is a charity that provides one-to-one counselling and therapy services to children, teenagers and adults in Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding area. For the past nine years, we have supported people with a range of issues, including self-harm, suicidal ideation, eating disorders and trauma. We also offer couples counselling.
At the heart of our ethos lies the commitment to never turn anyone away for financial reasons. We offer clients who cannot afford the full fee of £50 per session an opportunity to apply for our bursary funding. Fees are arranged on a case-by-case basis, depending on each individual’s circumstances. The bursary fund is publicised on our website and marketing material.
We also provide a clinical supervision service for individual counsellors, other professionals and groups. Again, we offer financial support to make this accessible. This training provides an income stream for us and also builds counselling skills and knowledge locally. The individuals we support work with vulnerable children and adults in local charities. The groups we help are both paid and voluntary workers preventing suicide and also working for a domestic abuse charity.
Our team of thirteen therapists are members of either The British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists or The Association of Christians in Counselling and Linked Professions and receive regular supervision and ongoing training. The charity is committed to providing a non-judgemental service and aims to treat all people respectfully regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ethnic origin or religion. Founded on Christian values, we work with people of all faiths and none.
Since May 2019 we have worked out of 57 High Street, Tunbridge Wells. Moving to this central location allowed us to expand and take on more counsellors. We also have the use of a room at Christ Church Tunbridge Wells (also in the High Street) to see clients who struggle with mobility issues.
In addition to offer counselling and therapy services, we also run some training courses on understanding and working with suicide, self injury, and the voice of the inner critic. We have recently partnered with David Riddell Memorial C.I.O to provide free training to secondary school staff in England and Wales on the subject of suicide and suicide prevention in schools.
