Jamaica Disaster Relief
Supporting the relief effort in Jamaica following Hurricane Melissa
About this Giving Opportunity
On October 14, 2025, Hurricane Melissa—a powerful Category 4 storm—struck Jamaica with devastating force. Sustained winds of up to 145 mph battered the island, causing catastrophic damage to homes, schools, hospitals, and critical infrastructure. In less than 48 hours, over 400,000 Jamaicans were left without power, and more than 60 percent of the island’s roads became impassable due to flooding and landslides.
The hurricane’s impact has been heartbreaking: over 40,000 families have been displaced, as floodwaters swept away entire neighborhoods along the south coast. The agricultural sector, which provides jobs for nearly 18 percent of the population, suffered an estimated $250 million in crop losses. At least 70 schools and 15 hospitals have reported severe structural damage, making it difficult for children to return to class and for communities to access medical care.
Immediate relief is desperately needed. Funds raised will provide emergency food supplies, clean drinking water, medical aid, and temporary shelter to those affected. Additionally, your support will help rebuild schools, homes, and vital infrastructure, offering hope for a stronger and more resilient Jamaica.
Please join us in supporting the people of Jamaica as they recover from this unprecedented disaster. Every donation makes a meaningful difference in restoring lives and communities.
